On Saving Faith Chapter 14 Paragraph 3:
This faith, although it be in different stages, and may be weak or strong,11 yet it is in the least degree of it different in the kind or nature of it, as is all other saving grace, from the faith and common grace of temporary believers;12 and therefore, though it may be many times assailed and weakened, yet it gets the victory,13 growing up in many to the attainment of a full assurance through Christ,14 who is both the author and finisher of our faith.15

12 2 Pet. 1:1
13 Eph. 6:16; 1 John 5:4–5
14 Heb. 6:11–12; Col. 2:2
15 Heb. 12:2
The term 'temporary believers' stuck out to me when we collectively read paragraph 1 of Chapter 18 last Sunday. There was a temptation to be a little fearful, but I had to stand on Philippians 1:6 that He that began a good work in you will perform it to the day of Jesus Christ. As I thought on the term more, I realized that the word 'temporary,' just like the word 'elect,' is from God's perspective, not ours. Many of us who accept Christ and are baptized as minors, fall away, only to drawn back to the fold. Though temporary at first, they are still elected and brought back.
"There are dozens of us! Dozens!" (Who have been listening since the beginning.) Ryan, I'll take your pennies on Sunday if you are ready to settle your tab.
So I'm one of the thousands of people who have listened since the beginning 🤣🤣.
