Weekly Roundup: January 18, 2019 (Joyce Meyer, Persecuted Church in China, a conversation on the Church, and on reading Reformers/Puritans)
At Broad Oak Piety This Week:
Exposing False Teachers: Joyce Meyer
This is perhaps my most widely read article to date. It demonstrated the need for me to publish more articles like this. I promise to work hard to put more together for you.
On Heralding Our Lord's Gospel
Articles Elsewhere:
In China, they're closing churches, jailing pastors- and even rewriting Scripture by Lily Kuo
You should know that our brothers and sisters in China are being persecuted. If you don't know this, please inform yourself so that you may strategically pray for them. Please take the time to read this article.
Podcast:
On the Church by "Behold Your God" Podcast
This is currently my favorite podcast to listen to. This is a very strategic conversation about the local church. It includes God's prescription for how He will be worshipped and how churches have gone wrong by adopting a business model approach to local church worship and ministry. They also spend a good amount of time discussing the devaluing of local churches.
Book Review/Recommendation
In Their Own Words: The Testimonies of Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, and John Bunyan by David B. Calhoun Review by Joey Tomlinson
This is a book that Banner of Truth publishes tomorrow (I believe). I had an opportunity to get an advanced copy to review and let me tell you, it is excellent. I won't go into detail here because I spend time discussing the value to this book on my book review. Happy reading!
