Deer Park Family Worship: Week of January 10th, 2021
Memory Verse: Proverbs 1:8
Catechism Question: How do you hear God’s voice? Answer: By reading the Bible.
Monday
Scripture:
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20:8-11)
Point of Focus: When God made all things, He set aside one full day every 7 days for us to rest and worship Him. In the Old Testament this was Saturday, but since the resurrection of Christ, this is Sunday or what we call 'The Lord's Day'.

Tuesday
Scripture: 42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (Acts 2:42)
Point of Focus: When we gather together on Sundays, we should be work hard to pay attention to the reading and preaching of God's Word, to spending quality time with each other, to prayer, and to the Lord's Supper.

Wednesday
Scripture: 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16)
Point of Focus: As we read and understand God's Word we should grow in our ability to encourage others with it and to sing it with thankfulness when we are gathered with our church family.

Thursday
Scripture: 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:23-25)
Point of Focus: When we regularly meet together each Sunday, we are reminded of the One who is faithful, we stir each other up in love and good works, and we encouraging one another to remember that Jesus is coming back for us.

Friday
Scripture: 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. (Acts 20:29-30)
Point of Focus: There are many people who will try to lead us away from Jesus and His Word.

Saturday
Scripture: 9 Let a widow be enrolled if she is not less than sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband, 10 and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work. 11 But refuse to enroll younger widows, for when their passions draw them away from Christ, they desire to marry 12 and so incur condemnation for having abandoned their former faith. (1 Timothy 5:9-12)
Point of Focus: The church is supposed to care for both the spiritual well-being and the physical well-being of the people as they have needs that arise.
